Worker Health and Safety Trainer, Kalmanovitz Initiative - Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences

The Worker Health and Safety Trainer conducts safety and health training for workers in the community. The trainer will help in the development and delivery of worker training on the health and safety hazards facing restaurant workers, worker's rights to safe jobs, and strategies to improve conditions. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Make contacts for training sessions.
  • Set up and conduct training sessions.
  • Maintain records of training sessions and people trained.
  • Work with KI staff to assist in completing reports


Work Interactions

The worker safety trainer will fulfill a vital role essential to the KI's work expanding its mission into worker safety training, as funded by a pilot capacity-building grant from the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The trainer will work in tandem with and report to the KI's Director of Student and Community Relations and Assistant Director under the supervision and ultimate reporting authority of the Executive Director.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or greater in public health, occupational safety and health or related field
  • Experience in the field of occupational safety and health
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present information
  • Experience in developing training materials
  • Experience with delivering adult trainings and education
  • Fluency in Spanish


Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
  • An understanding of Catholic social teaching on worker justice
  • A deep knowledge of current labor issues
  • A broad network of trusted contacts in the DC community

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$21.16 - $35.29

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
