About the College
The College of Health and Human Sciences comprises 6 departments outside of the School of Financial Planning, including Community Family and Addiction Sciences, Department of Design, Human Development and Family Sciences, Hospitality and Retail Management, Interdisciplinary Human Sciences, and Nutritional Sciences.
About the Department/School/Area
The School of Financial Planning at Texas Tech University offers a robust and high-quality academic curriculum with a minor in Personal Finance, B.S. in Applied Personal Finance and a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning. An additional Professional M.S. in Personal Financial Planning is offered in a hybrid format at TTU DFW. All Personal Financial Planning programs are registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and meet the education requirement for the CFP certification. All programs meet the education requirement for the AFC certification. Three dual graduate degrees are offered: JD/MS in PFP, MBA/MS in PFP, and MS Tax/MS PFP as well as graduate certificates in Charitable Financial Planning and Financial Health and Wellness, and an accelerated PFP B.S. to M.S. program. Enrollment of majors includes approximately 255 undergraduate students and 202 graduate students (457 total).
Major/Essential Functions
- Contribute to the university's mission through undergraduate/graduate teaching
- Teach graduate courses for the School of Financial Planning. Classes will be offered through online modalities, and the point of duty will be remote. Courses topics may include estate planning.
Faculty Qualifications
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, applicants should have professional credentials, experience working with various student populations, and industry experience. Specific required qualifications are:
- A Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) and an active CPA license.
- College-level undergraduate or graduate teaching experience in estate planning topics - 2 years minimum.
- Relevant industry experience in estate planning - 2 years minimum.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Working with dynamic populations in other related college-level education courses or through relevant professional experiences, as evident in application documents.
- A motivated and enthusiastic persona with excellent communication skills, both oral & written, as evident in application documents (cover letter, resume, curriculum vitae, and interview(s)).
- Active membership in relevant professional organizations is desired.
